The Worsfold Family

Our story starts just like many young couples looking to build a future and a family.

My husband, Ed, and I were both hard working professionals. We bought our first house in the city in an up-and-coming neighbourhood, close to good schools, close to a park. We started with a dog, then became pregnant shortly thereafter with our first child, Owen, a big, beautiful baby boy who was born in 2007.

Just like all first time parents, we did all the “right” things to make sure he had the best of everything we could provide. Two-and-a-half years later, we were once again overjoyed to be pregnant with baby number two, a beautiful girl, Emma.  Our son was so happy to be a big brother and we felt so blessed.  Our careers were going well and our family was growing. The future was bright.

But, something was just not right. We started to notice Owen tired easily during soccer games when he was four. We thought that because he was twice as big as all the other boys, he was just uncoordinated, but there were other signs that something might be wrong.
